Romeo and Jany Story
A Story for being discussed
Once upon of time there were a young man and woman who loved each other, but unfortunately they lived in two different islands. The man was Romeo, he was handsome and lived in a small island of the country for he worked as a fisherman and the woman was Jany, she was beautiful girl lived in the town. She was a daughter of a rich family. They only could meet for several times in a month when Romeo came for a vistit. Sometimes they also wrote each other. Jany's parents disagreed with their love for they wanted Jany marry with a rich man.Romeo had got two friends who lived in town, They were Ruben and Max, they were old friends of him at school. Ruben was not a good man, he liked to tease Jany when Romoe was away. While Max was a man who also loved Jany, but Jany didn't like him for sometimes he was rude to girl.
In town there were only Ruben and Max who had a boat. They worked as boat rider and take poeple to the other island. Sometimes Ruben also helped Jany to take her letter to Romeo.
One day, Romeo got an accident at work and he could not come to visit Jany. He sent a letter and asked Jany to see him. Jany got so worried, at the day she asked Ruben to take her to Romeo's Place. Knowing that Romeo was sick and Jany really needed a help, he gave a condition to Jany, he would help her if she could do what he asked for. On the condition, he asked Jany to sleep and have a date with him for one night and he promised that he would take her to Romeo at the next day.
Jany got so angry to hear that, she did not think that Ruben would do that to her. She left him and went to Max place for asking a help. When she got there, she told Max about Romeo's condition and also Ruben's bad manner and hoped that Max would help her. But, Max still had a resentment to her and Romeo. He said that he did not care about it. " that's your problem, I don't care about you". Max did not like her with Rome. Jany was really sad to hear Max's words. She came back to Ruben and hoped that he would change his mind.
When she met Ruben, she asked for one more time, but Ruben was still on his mind. Jany got frustration and could not think well. After three days, she became desperate, and lost of control. she came again to Ruben's house and asked for help. However, Ruben did not change.
Finally, she decided to fulfill what Ruben Asked for. After all happened, at the next day, Ruben answered his promise. He took Jany to Romeo's place by boat. Romeo was really happy to see Jany could come to see him, and he really thanked to Ruben.
A several days later, Jany felt so bad, she could not hide what had happened between her and Ruben and decided to tell all to Romeo. She said that she did it in order to be able to visit him. She tried to explain about all the condition that she had a difficult time and had no choice except doing that.
Romeo got so disappointed and sad to know that Jany had broken his love. He asked Jany to leave him never wish to be his girl anymore. Jany cried and got very sad knowing that what she had sacrificed for her boy was useless and just got blamed.

Kota Palu
There
are some traditional culture that we can find in Central Sulawesi, such as
Dance or Ritual dance (Balia),
Motahalele, Mosuna/Mokeso, Mocera.
a. Dance
There
are some dances that we can see in Palu. They are Pamonte dance, The dance of
Poso Lake Princess, and Pokambu dance. In the past time, these dances have
their own function, like Pamonte. It is used to celebrate the harvest moon.
Nowdays, these dance are used to welcome the guest who come to Palu.
b. Ritual dance (Balia)
Balia
is a ritual dance which is used to entertain a sick person, so he/she will get
the spirit to be healthy. It is a ritual dance for the dancers use a magic in
performing it. They move like a mad persons and do something which is very
danger, such as walking on a fire. They do that with magic. Now, this ritual
become controversial. Some people say that doing this ritual to help the sick
person by magic of some spirits, without asking the God to help the sick people
c. Motahalele
Motahalele
is one of the culture that usually done by people in Palu. Motahalele is the
way of the people to send their prayer and their thanks to the God. Not many
people in Palu do it for many reasons.
d. Mosuna and Mokeso
Mosuna
is coming from Arabic word, “sunnah”. It means to do what the Prophets did in
their ages. This thing is done by Muslim people to keep their body clean and it
is done only for boys in age eight or more than eight. it is almost the same
with what people do in other places, the difference is only the way they prepare
for the ceremony. In Palu, the boy who will do Mosuna is brought to the river
or the place for taking a bath, to clean their body. And them the boy will be
taken by someone or his father on the shoulder to home. Before doing Mosuna,
the boy will be brought to go around the house in three times, after that the
ceremony can be done.
Mokeso
is almos the same ritual with Mosuna, these things have the same function or aim. The difference
of this is Mosuna is for a boy while Mokeso is for the girl. This is done to
girl which is still a kid.

Mocera
Mocera
is also one of the ritual that still exists in the society in Palu. This
occasion is porposed for asking the helps of the God, so in doing the
activities that we want, will be easy. The way to do this ritual by using a
chicken. we take a little of the chicken blood as the media of the ritual.
